The First Line

13 scenes · about 3 min of listening, line by line, at normal and slow speed.

Evening, Room 302, warm-yellow vinyl floor. Hoya sits on the floor holding the phone in both paws; the family photo fills its screen, seen over his shoulder: five tigers in a row in front of pine trees, with a one-tiger gap between the sister and the little brother.

The story opens

  1. 누나한테서 문자가 와요. 사진이에요.

A text comes from his older sister. A photo.

  2. 우리 가족 사진이에요. 할머니, 아버지, 어머니, 누나, 남동생.

A photo of his family. Grandma, Father, Mother, his sister, his little brother.

  3. 가족은 여섯 명이에요. 그런데 사진에는 다섯 명밖에 없어요.

There are six in the family. But there are only five in the photo.

…and the rest of the story, with audio for every line.
