-(으)ㄴ/는 반면(에) (review)
While, whereas
You met -(으)ㄴ/는 반면에 in Unit 2. In opinion writing it sets two facts side by side to show a contrast — often the heart of a social problem. Use -는 반면 for verbs in the present, -(으)ㄴ 반면 for past verbs and adjectives, and N인 반면 after a noun.

Examples
도시의 인구는 늘어난 반면에 시골의 인구는 줄었다.
The urban population grew, whereas the rural population fell.
일할 사람은 줄어드는 반면 돌봄이 필요한 사람은 늘고 있다.
The number of people who can work is falling, while the number who need care is rising.
이 동네는 조용한 반면에 교통이 불편하다.
This neighbourhood is quiet, but getting around is inconvenient.
