The long negative

In native review Taught in Unit 9: What will you do this weekend?

-지 않아요 means the same as 안, added to the stem instead of placed in front. It sounds a little more careful, and it works with every verb, including noun + 하다 verbs.

Examples

  • 박물관은 멀지 않아요.

    The museum isn't far.

  • 저는 커피를 마시지 않아요.

    I don't drink coffee.

  • 주말에는 일하지 않아요.

    I don't work at weekends.
