Verbs before nouns
To describe a noun with a verb — “the hat people buy” — add -는 to the verb stem and put it in front of the noun: 사는 모자. Stems ending in ㄹ drop the ㄹ (팔다 → 파는). Words ending in 있다/없다 take -는 too, even though they are adjectives: 맛있는 호떡. Other adjectives keep -(으)ㄴ from Unit 1: 큰 모자.
