V-기 전에
Before…
Add -기 전에 to the stem for “before doing”. It never takes a tense — the last verb in the sentence does that job. With a noun, just add 전에: 여행 전에. With an amount of time, 전에 means “ago”: 삼 년 전에.
| When | Use | Example |
|---|---|---|
| verbs | -기 전에 | 가기 전에 · 먹기 전에 |
| nouns | N 전에 | 여행 전에 · 수업 전에 |
| time | time + 전에 (ago) | 삼 년 전에 · 한 시간 전에 |
Examples

I book somewhere to stay before I travel.
