V-다 보니

V-다 보니 means that while you kept doing something, you found yourself somewhere new — a change or a discovery you didn't plan. It attaches to the verb stem, and the second half often ends in -게 됐어요 or -아/어졌어요. Compare -고 보니 below, which is about the moment an action is finished.

Examples

  • 노래를 듣다 보니 한국어가 늘었어요.

    From listening to songs, my Korean got better.

  • 매일 만나다 보니 친해졌어요.

    We met every day, and we became close.

  • 드라마를 보다 보니 밤을 새웠어요.

    I kept watching the drama and ended up staying up all night.
