사동 (-이/히/리/기/우-)
Making someone do something
A causative verb means you make or help someone — or something — do an action: 먹다 (eat) → 먹이다 (feed). Like passives, causatives add a syllable to the stem (이, 히, 리, 기 or 우) and have to be learnt word by word; a few look exactly like passives, such as 보이다 (be seen / show). The person you make do it usually takes 에게.

Examples
동생에게 밥을 먹였어요.
I fed my little brother.
쓰레기를 줄여야 해요.
We need to cut down on rubbish.
병을 버리기 전에 먼저 비우세요.
Empty bottles before you throw them away.
