V/A-던데요 (-던데)
I saw …, (so what do you think?) — observation plus a soft reaction
-더라고요 finishes the story. Often you do not want to finish it. You hand over what you saw as background and leave room for the other person to react. That is -던데요, the memory version of the -(으)ㄴ/는데요 you know from Level 2.
Example
민수 씨는 지금 회의 중이던데요.
Minsu is in a meeting right now, I saw.
