정도로 describes a level by its effect. Often you want something else: to put two amounts side by side — 'as much as I can', 'as much as you worked', 'as big as a tiger'. That job belongs to 만큼.
Example
휴지는 필요한 만큼 가져가도 돼요.
You may take as much tissue as you need.
