at Level 3 you learnt the more…, the more… (-(으)ㄹ수록) and change (-아/어지다), but not a way to say how strong something is. Korean often measures a feeling by what it would make you do, so that 'very cold' becomes 'cold enough to make my hands ache'.
Example
이 김치찌개는 눈물이 날 정도로 매워요.
This kimchi stew is so spicy that tears come to my eyes.
