last unit -아서/어서 meant 'and then' (가서 사요). It has a second job, and it is the one you will use all day at the clinic: 'because'. 배가 아파서 … says why you are there.
Example
머리가 아파서 학교에 못 갔어요.
I had a headache, so I couldn't go to school.
