-아서/어서 cannot lead into a request or a suggestion, and at the clinic almost everything you hear is one: don't eat that, come back tomorrow. The reason before advice is -(으)니까, and its short form -(으)니 belongs to the same family.
Example
밖이 추우니까 옷을 많이 입어야 해요.
It's cold outside, so you need to wear a lot of clothes.
