ㅂ irregular (더워요 · 도와요)
Irregular stems ending in ㅂ
Taught in Level 2, Unit 2: Describing things (and irregular verbs)
many of the most everyday adjectives — hot, cold, spicy, heavy, easy, difficult, close, cute — end in ㅂ, and every one of them breaks the -아요/어요 table from L1-U04 the moment you put it before a vowel. You already met several in the dialogue (추워요, 무거워요, 가까워요) and one in the modifier (더운).
Example
이 국은 너무 매워요.
This soup is far too spicy.
