Again and again, and on and on through time
Taught in Level 4, Unit 9: Words and proverbs
proverbs say how life keeps going, and memories say what used to happen. Korean has two ways to show an action running through time: repeating (-곤 하다) and continuing (-아/어 오다, -아/어 가다).
Example
어릴 때는 비가 오면 창문 앞에 앉아 있곤 했어요.
When I was little, I would sit by the window when it rained.
