Taught in Level 4, Unit 3: Spending and saving
spending, prices and habits only mean something next to something else — last month, other shops, other cities. At Level 2 you compared with N보다. This is the version that fits statements of fact and reports, and it can also compare a whole situation.

작년 겨울에 비해 올겨울은 덜 춥네요.
Compared with last winter, this winter is less cold.
