Taught in Level 4, Unit 3: Spending and saving
at Level 2 you learnt -지만 for 'but'. When you talk about money, shops and society you keep meeting things that are good in one way and bad in another. Korean has a connective that puts both sides on the scale at once — and a look at how it differs from -지만 and -는데 will save you many wrong choices.
Example
지하철은 빠른 반면에 출근 시간에는 사람이 정말 많아요.
The subway is fast, but at rush hour it's really crowded.
