Adding one more thing — on top of that, not only … but also
Taught in Level 4, Unit 3: Spending and saving
-고 and 도 only list things one after another. When you argue — for a purchase, against an idea — you want to stack reasons ('it's cheap, and on top of that it lasts') and to say how much weight the second one has. Korean has three levels of adding, and this unit puts them side by side.
Example
이 카페는 커피가 맛있는 데다가 자리도 편해서 자주 가요.
The coffee at this café is good, and the seats are comfortable too, so I go often.
