-기 때문에
Because… (a firm, formal reason)
Taught in Level 2, Unit 11: Reasons and wishes
you already have two ways to give a reason — -아서/어서 and -(으)니까 (Unit 5). Here is the third, the firmest one. Level 2 ends by putting all three side by side, so you can pick the right one.
Example
오늘은 시험이 있기 때문에 일찍 자요.
I'm going to bed early because I have an exam today.
