Korean grammar · Level 4
V-고자 · V-고자 하다
In order to, intending to — the formal -고자
an editorial, a report or a speech states its aim at the start — 'this article sets out to…', 'in order to solve this, the company…'. -고 싶다 is too personal and -(으)려고 too chatty for that. The formal word for purpose and intention is -고자, and Sori has just put it in Hoya's first sentence.
Example
이 글에서는 재택근무의 좋은 점과 문제점을 살펴보고자 한다.
This article sets out to look at the good points and the problems of working from home.
