So that's why … (explaining a past event)
history and story writing keep asking 'why did that happen?', and at the end of a paragraph the answer arrives: 'so that is why'. In speech you say the same thing when you suddenly understand: 'Oh, so that's why you …!'
Example
그 사람은 사실 나를 도와주려고 했던 것이다.
That person was, in fact, trying to help me.
