-(으)ㄴ/는 탓에 · N 탓에 · N 탓이다
Because of (a bad result) — blaming a cause
at Level 3 you learnt 때문에 (neutral) and 덕분에 (thanks to, a good result). Bad results also need their own word: when you blame something for a problem. 탓 is that word, and history writing, news and complaints all use it.
Example
늦잠을 잔 탓에 첫 수업에 늦었어요.
I overslept, and so I was late for the first class.
