It's obvious that … will — a confident, often gloomy prediction

Taught in Level 5, Unit 9: No cashier after 11

when a shop changes, everyone predicts — and the predictions are rarely cheerful. The grannies won't manage the machine; Hoya will stay up all night. When you are sure from experience how something will turn out, Korean says -(으)ㄹ 게 뻔하다.

Example

  • 지금 출발해도 길이 막혀서 늦을 게 뻔해요.

    Even if we leave now, we'll obviously be late with the traffic.
