Korean grammar · Level 5
V-다가는 · V-았/었다가는
If you keep on … / if you go and … — a warning
Taught in Level 5, Unit 9: No cashier after 11
three shifts gone, the rent still due — the natural thing to say is 'if this goes on, …'. You know -다가 for switching from one action to another (L3-U07). Add 는 and it becomes a warning: carry on like this and something bad will happen.
Example
이렇게 매일 야근하다가는 몸이 버티지 못할 거예요.
If you keep working late every night like this, your body won't hold out.
