Regret and wistful wishes
Taught in Level 4, Unit 1: If I won the lottery
-았/었더라면 needs a whole 'if' clause. But regret usually comes as a short sigh — 'I should have…', 'how nice it would be if…'. These are the two everyday sighs, and they use forms you already know.
Example
아침에 우산을 챙길걸 그랬어요.
I should have taken an umbrella this morning.
