Still in that state — keeping a state while something else happens

Enseigné dans Niveau 5, unité 11 : Nunchi and jeong

Pas encore traduit — affiché en anglais.

Grandma fries pancakes with her arm still in a cast; the young man in 「봄·봄」 stands frozen with his ear still held. To say that a state stays as it is while the next thing happens — often when it should not — Korean uses -(으)ㄴ 채(로).

Exemple

  • 어젯밤에 텔레비전을 켜 놓은 채로 잠이 들었어요.
